This morning Skye let us sleep in until after 8. She did that for Michael the other day too. I checked in on her at 7:30 on Wednesday, and she was laying quietly in her crib, playing with her blanket. I closed the door as quietly as possible and warned Michael that she was awake. He said that she didn't start calling for him until well after 8, and the same thing happened this morning. I'll take it!
But Skye woke up in a MOOD this morning. I don't know what her deal was. Michael said that when he went in to get her in the morning, she kind of looked down and away and acted kind of strange with him. I was in the kitchen preparing a big breakfast of sausage, hash browns and french toast. After Skye sucked down her milk, she started acting annoyed again. Like she really looked mad. So I gave her some blueberries to cheer her up. She ate them by the fistful. After breakfast was ready, I gave her some french toast and hash browns, and she looked at me like I had just vomited on her tray and expected her to eat it. She tried the french toast, so I'll give her that. She would take a piece in each hand, and take turns licking the pieces. Or she would put it in her mouth and them remove it a few seconds later. She also did that with the sausage. It's weird because she scarfed down the sausage at her Nanna's gathering earlier in the week. Whatever, Skye!
After breakfast, we brought Skye over to the tree to enjoy the new kitchen set from Santa. She really dug it, which was awesome. We spent a few hours hanging out. Skye took a nap, and Michael and I watched a few Christmas movies. Then the grandparents and Uncle Ted showed up for a visit. By that time, Skye had woken up from her nap, and her spirits were up. But the second that Granny stepped in the door, she got all clingy with me. She refused to let them hold her, and she didn't want to show off her new toys. The night before she had been loving on all of them, so her behavior today was very surprising.
So we had a nice long visit. Skye ate her lunch and appeared to be in a ok mood for the majority of the visit, but then she got CRANKY. I gave her some milk, and she was ready for a nap. I took her around the room to give kisses. Reluctantly while clinging to my arm, she leaned in to give kisses to everyone. I laid her down for a nap, and she stayed quiet in her room. We could all hear her back there talking quietly to herself, but we just figured that she wanted some quiet time, so we left her alone.
The grandparents eventually left. When they did, however, they noticed that there was a cat sitting on the rear windshield wiper of my van, which was parked in the garage. The last time that we opened the garage door was last night. So this cat spent all night and most of Christmas day in my garage. (I haven't yet looked for the cat poop that I know will be in there.) We have a lot of strays in the neighborhood, so I was just waiting for this day. This cat, however, belongs to be next door neighbors. I walked her over to their house, and as soon as they opened the door, she darted in. Weird.
Anyway, I went back into the house, and Skye started talking much louder and eventually was yelling to be allowed out of her crib. I went to her room excepting to meet angry baby, but she was all smiles. I told her that it was just me and her daddy out in the living room, and she was giddy with excitement. I put her down and she danced around and started playing with her toys. She seriously was not in the mood for company, and she went to her room to hide from them! I can't believe it! It's so funny because these are her favorite people in the world. They are people who she is perfectly happy to visit at their homes, but she just did NOT want company today. It cracks me up! Too bad her "Bah Humbug" t-shirt from last Christmas doesn't still fit because it would have been perfect for this year.
So we hung out the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. Skye got a bath and went to bed. I tried to make homemade peanut butter, and Michael and I played Guitar Hero World Tour. Now I'm chilling to the sound of Michael clacking away on his new cymbal set to the beat of "Beat It." (Of course Michael Jackson would come up as an encore song when I'm not singing! Grr!)
So I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope that you enjoy the rest of the holiday season. I sure will. Michael and I are off work until January 5th. Saturday we're getting tattoos, Monday we're celebrating Mom & Dad's 30th anniversary, and we might get a chance to visit my new niece in Cleveland. It'll be a great week, and I'm way excited about it!
