Week in Review

As snotfest 2008 comes to a close, I thought I would reminisce about some things that have happened this past week...

Saturday morning I woke up and felt like my head was going to pop. It felt like a giant balloon that carried me from room to room. My dear husband, Michael, spent most of the weekend with Skye while I was huddled in the bed trying to sleep through the snotty misery that was, at the time, my reality.

Skye has been sick too. Or teething. Or both. Either way, she's got a runny nose that she likes to rub all over the place. I'm finding dried, crusty streaks everywhere. It's gross. Her favorite thing to do is smush her face onto our bed and rub her face around. Why she prefers to do that over letting me wipe her little nose, I will never know.

When I was little, I used to always say "uppa!" when I wanted to be picked up. Skye looked at me with her arms outstretched and said, "Daddy, uppa!" It was so sweet! I told her she had part of it right. No matter how many times I tell her that my name is "Momma," she doesn't care. Like the other day, she burst into my bedroom and exclaimed "Tatie!" Seriously, man. It has to stop. I know it's adorable, but I didn't go through 20-some hours of labor to be called by my first name. I earned the "Mother" title, y'all!

Skye has recently been on a climbing frenzy. We recently bought her a green chair from Ikea with her birthday money from Uncle Eric. She loves it. More specifically, she loves to stand on it. She also like to sit on it backwards. Michael looked at her and asked, "Are you getting your senior pictures taken or something?" Hilarious! Those poses are so cheesy! Anyway, I was busy trying clean up from snotfest, so I was doing laundry earlier this week. While I was running around, Skye quietly entertained herself. I found her sitting in the corner of the couch where I usually read to her. She had a board book opened on her lap and was quietly enjoying it by herself. How cute is that!? Of course, it didn't last long enough for me to grab the camera and get pictorial evidence, but it was so precious! I'm so glad that my daughter is so independent sometimes. Like I really am so impressed with how smart she is sometimes...

That being said, last night she was in our bedroom. After spotting the tissue box that I had left right at her eye level, she ran over and grabbed a fistful of tissues. I looked her straight in the eye and said, "Skye, no!" She looked right at me and started giggling. She let go and quickly bolted out of the room, giggling down the hall. She cracks me UP! She totally knew that she was doing something she wasn't supposed to, and she totally wanted me to grab her and give her a tickle punishment.

And you KNOW when she wants to get tickled because she'll walk over to you and casually start saying "Ticka, ticka, ticka." That's pretty much an invitation to throw her down on the ground and tickle every inch of her little body. I love it! And if you stop for a minute, she'll bring you back with a little reminder "ticka, ticka...!"

In other news... I have all of next week off, and I'm so excited about it!
