We've been trying to fix up the house in preparation for our company next weekend for Skye's birthday. It's been a long road, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Today was probably the most productive day yet, and I'm feeling it.
Mom and Dad kept the Skizz last night, so this morning I got up at 7 am to start cleaning, and I didn't stop moving until about 6:30 pm. The place looks great, though! Michael's parents and my dad came over while Mom watched Skye. We cleaned up the leaves in the yard, power washer the deck and the back door area, dug out another bed, finished our paver and gravel walk-out, painted the front and garage doors, fixed an electrical problem, edged the driveway, donated stuff to Goodwill, organized the garage, and cleaned the entire house. The dumb part was that we cleaned the house first, and then we trashed the place throughout the day. So I'll have to re-clean tomorrow. Still, that's a pretty impressive list, don't you think? Go team! I'm so psyched to have it all done. The place looks amazing!
I would have never imagined that keeping up a house would be SO much work! I'm learning, though. I planted some hostas all by myself today. And I figured out how to clean the windows in my storm door. The next problem to tackle? Grasshoppers and crickets. Our yard is so weird. We have a strawberry patch on one side of the house, mushrooms in the back, and grass hoppers and crickets all over the place. We also yanked out a wild grapevine today. Random!
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to sleeping tonight. In other news, I invited our new neighbors to church. That's a huge step for me because for some reason, I'm really shy about inviting people to church. When I invited Nikki, though, she said that she was really excited about it because they had been looking for churches and trying to find a place to get plugged in. I think that they will really like 4 Corners! I'm so glad that God pushed me out the door tonight to invite them! I'm looking forward to the service tomorrow. It's the 4th anniversary, and it's going to be huge. I'm just hoping that this headache goes away before then!
Well I'm out. It's bedtime for Kate. Peace out, ya'll!
